Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her professional surname Ari Lennox is an American artist and songwriter hailing of Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. The debut EP Pho, released on October 21, 2016 was released on Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she began to get notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. Her uploads continued songs online throughout 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. In the year 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, performing the track "Sweat it out" on 21st July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time, wanted to have her create Rihanna references. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. In the record Revenge of the Dreamers II her appearance was made on the song Backseat along with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, she debuted her first EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening artist on behalf of J. Cole on his single Change in the year 2017 and did a performance on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to appear in two songs featuring her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The album's first single, Whipped Cream From the album hit stores on October 5, 2018, with a music video. In November, she dropped singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On the 13th of November she dropped two singles titled The No One as well as Pedigree. She performed with Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16, and then released the song on her own single to accompany the album she released her debut. It was released with an accompanying music video that debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 and it surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within one week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December, 2018.
